Year 10 Visual Art ArtExpress Excursion
On Friday the 28th of May, Year 10 Elective Visual Art classes took an exciting excursion to Maitland Regional Art Gallery to experience the ArtExpress works of 2020.
During the excursion students were given the opportunity to participate in a practical artmaking workshop run by artist Leslie Fitzsimmons. During the workshop, we were encouraged to use layers like the ones demonstrated around the gallery to create a self-expressive artwork. Students displayed their inner personality by selecting different mixed media materials such as thread, cardboard and magazine cut outs.
After enjoying a lunch break outside with Mrs Ross and Mrs Pyne, students participated in a scavenger hunt, touring the gallery. We were given a worksheet to work through as we explored the featured artworks and gained firsthand insight into the process behind ArtExpress. In the afternoon we gathered outside for some plein air sketching in the sun, before returning to school after a fun and educational day.
